Well, after taking a few days off to relax after a wonderful show, it’s time to start getting ready for Craft Attack! 2010…
If you were unable to make it to the show the other day, you missed out on meeting some great people, and we got really lucky with the weather. While it did rain for about 15 min. at the very beginning of the show, the rest of the day was quite comfortable with a nice breeze.
We had lots of great vendors, and a bunch of visitors. I had the chance to speak with a number of people visiting Craft Attack, and they were having a wonderful time. A few of them were making suggestions for next years show including trying to add an area where we could have various musicians set up to perform live music.
There was also very good feedback from people regarding our inclusion of community groups like the North Carolina Deaf-Blind Associates, and the Animal Adoption League. Unfortunately while representatives of the Fire Department did show up, they were unable to bring the firetruck down into the area we had been planning to let them set up. The problem being the chance of cracking the sidewalk with the weight of the firetruck… So next year we will probably see if we can interest one of our other local Public Service groups in coming in to talk with people from the community.
And finally, speaking of the community… I spoke with a few residents of the Elizabeth neighborhood as well as representatives from Parks & Rec. and they all are looking forward to us returning again next year. So apparently we make good neighbors…
One more quick note to all the vendors that participated in this years event. As one of the organizers, I would personally like to thank you for the condition you left the park in. While a handful of us did stay behind to make sure everything was cleaned up, there really was very little to do. The reps. from Parks & Rec. had told me that we were one of the easiest groups to work with… we weren’t rowdy or loud, and we kept the area clean all day.
So, thank you for a great show… And remember to check back here for updates from time to time. Also, if you have not done so already, sign up for our mailing list so we can inform you when we start ramping up for next year.
Thanks,
CodePirate (Mike) Yarrr!!!
